Just because March is the beginning of meteorological spring and, eventually, astronomical spring, the weather can remain very wintry with accumulating snow, possibly into April and beyond. Despite signs of spring and warmer weather ahead, March has a tendency to be just as wintry as other cold weather months in New York state. Binghamton has had measurable snowfall every March dating back to 1952. In Syracuse, there has been measurable snow in all but one March (2010). There have been 11 times Syracuse's March snowfall topped 30 inches, with the snowiest March on record coming in 1993.
