Syracuse, NY – Today throughout Syracuse, 500 Special Olympics New York athletes and coaches —and their biggest fans—from across the state will go for the gold in 5 sports: Alpine Skiing, Figure Skating, Floor Hockey, Snowboarding, and Snowshoeing. State Games is the highest level of sports competition offered for people with intellectual disabilities in New York. 'Our athletes have been training for this day all winter; now is their chance to compete for the coveted gold medal at State Winter Games,' said Special Olympics New York President & CEO Stacey Hengsterman .
